Mourning and loss

Losing a loved one or grieving a major life change can be an emotional time. The loss can be sudden and unexpected or a long journey with someone with a terminal illness. Grief and loss are personal and intimate and the support around the person should respect that. In the aftermath of a bereavement or loss, there tends to be a lot of support from friends, family and loved ones. However, as the weeks go by, the initial closeness fades and a person may find themselves struggling to navigate the intricate process of grieving and re-establishing a new balance in their life. During this time, counselling can offer a safe and empathetic space, allowing them to unload the burden of their grief. After a loss, a therapeutic intervention becomes a refuge to share deepest emotions, face the challenges of grief and find regular support to gradually reintegrate into the world and get their life back on track. The therapist becomes a key companion in the journey of reconnecting with life after the loss.

Culturally, grief is seen as a very short period of time and people are expected to return to work after a short time. These assumptions and pressures can make the grieving person feel isolated from others and we often judge ourselves negatively if we do not live up to external expectations. I will be here to walk with you through your grief and loss, but also to explore what life looks like now and what the future holds  .
